Mai 2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Wer sich die Flugroute von Deutschland nach Westkanada anschaut, wird bemerken, dass sie direkt \u00fcber Island und Gr\u00f6nland hinweg f\u00fchrt (zumindest wenn man einen Globus verwendet und keine flache Landkarte). Gl\u00fccklicherweise verlief der Flug von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frankfurt-airport.com\/de.html\">Frankfurt (Main)<\/a> nonstop bis nach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yvr.ca\/en\/passengers\">Vancouver<\/a> und startete am sp\u00e4ten Vormittag bei perfektem Wetter \u2013 so wurde die Anreise bereits zum Highlight \ud83e\udd29. Dabei dachte ich immer, Island sei ein einziger wei\u00dfer Fleck! Ein Passagier in der linken Reihe schaute mich genervt an und fragte, was da unten eigentlich so Besonderes sei. Als ich antwortete: &#8222;Island&#8220;, lag in seinem Blick die Frage, ob ich sonst keine Sorgen h\u00e4tte. Na ja, wahrscheinlich ein routinierter Vielflieger \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Etwa zwei Stunden und \u00fcber tausend Kilometer sp\u00e4ter \u00fcberflogen wir dann das zentrale Gr\u00f6nland. Durch die Zeitverschiebung war es nur vier Stunden sp\u00e4ter als beim Abflug, dabei waren in Wirklichkeit \u00fcber zehn Stunden verstrichen <em>#jetlag<\/em>. Das gebuchte Hotel lag noch ein St\u00fcck entfernt und wir legten den letzten Kilometer zu Fu\u00df zur\u00fcck. Als wir an einer Art &#8222;Campingplatz&#8220; vorbei kamen, wo die Menschen in Joggingsachen herumliefen und recht heruntergekommen aussahen, wurde mir erst nach mehreren Minuten klar, dass wir uns gerade am Drogen-Hotspot der kanadischen Westk\u00fcste befanden, in der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/gesundheit\/diagnose\/vancouvers-viertel-downtown-eastside-kaempft-gegen-drogen-und-hiv-a-817326.html\">&#8222;East Hastings Street&#8220;<\/a>. Davon war in der Hotelbeschreibung nat\u00fcrlich keine Rede gewesen. Um den ersten Urlaubstag nicht in dieser Gegend verbringen zu m\u00fcssen, stornierten wir kurzerhand das gebuchte Hotel und lie\u00dfen uns mit einem Taxi zur\u00fcck in die Downtown bringen. Das <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairmont.de\/waterfront-vancouver\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fairmont Waterfront Hotel<\/a> lag direkt am Wasser und lud uns zu zwei \u00dcbernachtungen ein. Also rhetorisch gesprochen, denn das Doppelzimmer in einer hochgelegenen Etage kostete ein kleines Verm\u00f6gen, doch das war uns nach der anstrengenden Anreise egal. Es gab einen schicken Au\u00dfenpool ungef\u00e4hr im f\u00fcnften Stock, von dem aus wir eine gute Sicht auf die Bucht hatten. Tats\u00e4chlich trieben nahe dem Hafen etliche solcher Flieger auf dem Wasser dahin, hoben in regelm\u00e4\u00dfigen Abst\u00e4nden ab und landeten wieder, um den Touristen ein paar sch\u00f6ne Ausblicke zu bescheren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck liehen wir uns Fahrr\u00e4der aus und radelten zum <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.de\/Attraction_Review-g154943-d155652-Reviews-Stanley_Park-Vancouver_British_Columbia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stanley Park<\/a>, dem gr\u00f6\u00dften Stadtpark der Umgebung mit einem riesigen Netz von Spazierwegen, kleinen Seen und B\u00e4chen, Gr\u00fcnfl\u00e4chen und uralten B\u00e4umen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christ Church Cathedral<\/a> besichtigten und uns anschlie\u00dfend zwischen Reklametafeln und gro\u00dfen B\u00fcrogeb\u00e4uden namhafter IT-Firmen bis nach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.de\/Attraction_Review-g154943-d156255-Reviews-Granville_Island-Vancouver_British_Columbia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Granville Island<\/a> durchschlugen.
